Just FYI
I have been keeping up with my Scotland diary! I just haven’t typed out my entries yet!

Okay, so you know how my Scotland trip is approaching? Well, I’m really determined to record as much of my experience as possible. I’ll be bringing my fancy-schmancy camera and my professor was kind enough to give all of us a personal journal to document our thoughts on the trip. Since tomorrow will mark the 30-day countdown to Scotland, I thought I’d start writing in my journal and then share my entries with you guys via this blog! I might not have internet access during some points of my trip, so I figured I could queue up my entries when ever I have some time to spare. I’m really excited, so let’s get this started!
Right now I feel like I’m in a weird place. Basically, I’ve been experiencing this weird combination of good and bad feelings. Two people I know have been hospitalized this past week, but from what I understand, they’re both doing alright. Nevertheless, I can’t help but feel worried and concerned.
Despite all the negative energy, I’m also feeling pretty good. I think it may be due to the regular, vigorous exercise I’ve been getting. These past few days have been incredibly productive! It’s unusual for me to get so much stuff done. After cleaning my kitchen and drying my clothes at the laundromat, I did some grocery shopping and rewarded myself with a jar for sun tea! Because what’s summer without sun tea? :]
Anyhoo, I don’t wanna break my productive streak, so back to the books for me! I hope everyone is having a lovely week!
So. Life updates. Let’s do this.
1) I’m back in school. Summer school. Since my next year of college is my senior year, I wanted to cut down the work load as much as possible to keep my final year stress-free! It’s an obligatory research paper writing course, but it’s not too bad. I’m actually quite fond of research papers provided I’m actually interested in the topic I’m writing about! I also have a professor who’s the “Just-Call-Me-Sarah” type, so she’s real chill about everything.
2) Scotland is approaching quickly. In case you’re a new reader: I’ll be spending my July abroad in Edinburgh and Holy Island on an anthropology field school where I’ll be conducting interviews and contributing to academic research. I had my first orientation meeting on Thursday and I walked away with a hefty handbook, a voice recorder, a journal, and a stomach swirling with excited butterflies. I’ve got big plans for my trip as far as this blog goes, but more on that later.
3) Boy problems suck, but whatever. I’ll live. Here’s my current love situation in a nutshell: I have feelings for a boy who can’t get over his ex-girlfriend no matter how hard he tries. Unfortunately the ex is kind of a controlling, calculating bitch. He knows it, but he’s in love. And no matter how hard I try to be there for him, his heart just won’t let go of her. Of course, this resulted in a handful of broken hearts for me. But hey, I’m a veteran at rejection now. I’ve got the coping thing down pat.
So I’ve decided to surrender to this one. I’ll still be there for him, but this time as a friend. I have a feeling that if/when he gets shot down again, a friend is what he’ll need most.
So what does all this mean? Jackie’s back to her happy old life again! Celebrated with a good morning run and sparkly manicure. :]

My horoscope said I’d have a lucky day today. Though it wasn’t a bad day, I certainly wouldn’t call it lucky.
This morning, I woke up late for my first day of summer classes. This is clearly a trend that has stuck with me for over a year. I somehow managed to get to class on time and I was pleased to find that even though the workload is a bit rigorous, I think I might enjoy this class. It’s a required writing course and my professor seems pretty cool. Our first assignment was actually a photo assignment that challenged us to look at things from a different and more detailed perspective.
For help, I turned to my photographer best friend and together we ventured downtown for some good subjects. We began in a quaint neighborhood where the homes look like dollhouses and somehow ended up sneaking into the bell tower of a church down the street.
And now, several hours later, I discovered a carpenter ant colony in my home. The damn things hum so loud that at first I thought I had left a sink running. With the help of my cousin and her boyfriend, we managed to find the source and took some action to keep the bugs at bay until the exterminator comes on Wednesday.
Man, so much to take in and I still have homework to finish. Oh well. Life as usual!
